While I do blog (and offer contrubtors a chance to blog as well) at NHLDigest.com, I’d like to list another site that I think hockey fans should visit.

http://thehockeyzen.com - Very cool and interactive hockey site featuring video content a social features as well!

Brothers Chris and Adrian Nadeau have created a very nice space for hockey fans to share thoughts and ideas about the world’s greatest game.

Oh yeah… and stop by NHLDigest.com after you’re done! smile

My favorite web site to use is NHL.com. Not sucking up, but I am a GameCenter Live subscriber, so that is where I get to watch most of my Hockey. I also extensively use the stats section and schedule pages.

For commentary, I am a fan of SB Nation’s set of NHL sites. And I also peruse the postings on Ballhype.

I am a Managing Director of OnGoalAnalysis.com. Our main goal is to tell the reader who will be IN or OUT of the Playoffs as soon as possible - we are 89.7% accurate an average of 84 days before the mathematical call, too using our proprietary Playoff Qualifying Curve. We let you in on what we know at its earliest through a Daily Tip In subscription.

We also provide the latest scores, standings and stats for reference each day, and have just added our weekly Comprehensive Player Index to tell the reader who provides the most effort toward his team’s “W” each and every shift he hits the ice. In the New Year, we will add a new section to support fantasy Hockey, “Deep In The Corners” where we scrub the AHL weekly to point out who the hottest players are and why they may be coming north to their big club to replace that injury soon.

And we provide analytical blogs that delve deeper into the NHL than just the surface ice.

I’ll self-promote my blog… http://www.theroyalhalf.com

We just moved to the Bloguin site, which has some amazing hockey blogs from Pensblog to Barry Melrose Rocks to Cycle Like the Sedins.

I’ve been writing at The Royal Half for a few seasons and have been covering the futily that is the Los Angeles Kings from the perspective of a 7 year 1/2 Season Seat Ticket Holder… the same 7 years the Kings haven’t made the playoffs. But this year… the Kings have given me plenty to write about.

Thanks for doing this, Paul.  Really great idea!

Greetings Paul,
Happy Holidays to you.  Let me get to it.  I am one of the writers for Crash The Crease, http://www.crashthecrease.com.  We are a pure NHL portal, with also a juniors/minors backing from some of the writers on the site as well.  Our main focus is the NHL and ENTIRE NHL at that.  We not only have bloggers for most teams (still shy a few, but the bloggers we have do some very dedicated work) but we bring all the up to date news from other sites to incorporate a one way visit for all hockey fans.

The site also produces and sponsors a show called The Hockey Guys (which you have been a part of in the past).  It is a weekly hockey broadcast which is live on Sundays from 2PM-4PM EST.

The site has a few things that we try to implement to have a different type of visit for the hockey fans worldwide.  We bring every aspect of the game and some very good insight for the readers.  We have some contacts from our writers as well, to bring up to the minutes news as it breaks (when possible).

There are a lot of reasons to be a fan of Crash the Crease as a reader.  If I were to list them all, I think I’d sound more egotistical then attempting to gain further exposure through you.

Of course, with the way the blog world has come from when it originally started (like you had stated in your article) there is quite a bit of competition, so I can only hope to be included with my main piece of work which is CTC.

A little about myself:  I am one of the sites hiring managers and editors. I am one of the original site writers, and have been on board since it’s original launch in August 2008. We have been running strong since that time, have made a few site design changes and feel we have hit our stride.

I write for the Islanders, and am currently in the running to gain credentials for the team as they have opened up applications for the blog box.  Of course, this only makes my life easier if accepted as I will be able to write more detailed articles with quotes from the team, live action viewing, etc.

Thanks for this opportunity, and here is to crossing my fingers to have CTC included with your giving mood.  Cheers.

Happy Holidays

Chris Kontos was nice enough to point out CLS before, but we’d be glad to have everyone take a look.

Although CLS is a general NHL blog like Kuklas Korner, we’re not crazy enough to think we can go head-to-head with KK and Puck Daddy when it comes to pure coverage and greatness.

Instead, we’ve carved out a meager existence by writing about weird things, like the Sedin twins and our boiling distaste for Todd Bertuzzi. Most recently, we featured 14 female hockey bloggers in a special edition called “Odd Woman Rush.” It was in many ways a great success (and is one of the reasons you should check it out).

Cycle like the Sedins: “where we look at hockey - and life - through ginger colored glasses.”

Other great blogs:

Hello Paul,

Since you and I both know you are a hockey fan, what better way to get your hockey fix than to check out http://www.crasthecrease.com? We have a solid group of writers/bloggers that give you a passionate perspective on the teams that are covered.

Another site that is pure eye candy for diehard hockey fans is http://www.insidehockey.com. This site provides wall-to-wall coverage of all things hockey…from professional to amateur.

These two sites are my favorites, but they are both sites I write for. At the crashthecrease.com site, I cover the New York Rangers(god help me) as well as co-host The Hockey Guys podcast. I only started their since May, but I must say it has grown leaps and bounds since then. As far as the insidehockey site, I am a contributor for five teams: Sabres, Thrashers, Stars, Oilers and Blues. I’ve only been at this site for about a month.

Although the Rangers are my team, sad I know, my passion is all things hockey. This is the greatest sport in the world and these sites are great and I’m proud to be associated with both. Check them out!

Take care,

The Goalie Guild (http://www.thegoalieguild.com) is a haven for goaltenders of all shapes and sizes. We advance and enhance the position through a wide variety of interactive and in-depth features.

We reward members and visitors with credits which they accumulate over time in order to build their Guild rank and then win prizes and coming soon, goalie gear.

I cover fantasy goaltending on a weekly basis for Dobber Hockey, one of the most hardcore fantasy hockey websites in the world. I also write columns for a number of other blogs and hockey sites when I have time.

The Goalie Guild is just one faction of The Hockey Guild, (http://www.thehockeyguild.com) a company I founded back in 2007. We are a hockey promotions company specializing in interactive on-ice events that give local hockey players once-in-a-lifetime hockey experiences.

Here in Colorado, I cover the Avalanche as the host of Avalanche Weekly on Mile High Sports Radio AM 1510, the team’s flagship station. Our company is partners with the Avalanche, as we run some very cool on-ice programs with the team at Pepsi Center. You can learn more about those at http://www.theavalancheguild.com at any time.

PK, thanks for giving everyone a chance to make a shout-out regarding their favorite hockey spots on the web. Good stuff as always and keep up the great work. I find myself visiting your website more and more as time goes on! =)

Oooh a chance to self-promote?

I run a Red Wings blog called The Nightmare on Helm Street…
http://www.nightmareonhelmstreet.com/

It’s named after Darren Helm (for those who don’t follow the Red Wings, or the Stanley Cup Play-offs the past two years).

I tried my hand at general NHL blogging for about two weeks before I realized that no one was listening.  Now that I’ve become more accustomed to how things work in the hockey blog community, I think I’ve put together a pretty entertaining site.

I like to incorporate a lot of other writer’s work and comment on them.  The main goal is to inform, but to do it in a humorous way.  I brought on my buddy Chris to help while I was watching the Wings lose both games in Sweden.  He’s stayed on to contribute though not as frequent as I.  There is a deep contrast in our writing style which I think helps give the site a little more flavor.

Stop on by if you like.  I also have compiled a list of 29 other NHL blogs (one for each team).  Thanks for the opportunity, Paul.  I can say with all honesty that without Kukla’s Korner, I may never have started paying attention to hockey blogging and the NOHS may never have existed.

Hey Paul,

I’m a writer/blogger based in Toronto and since today is the day for shameless self-promotion, I offer up my blog for all the fantasy puckheads out there:

http://thegamesheet.com

I write a fantasy hockey column every Friday for 24 hours, a free daily newspaper available in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. The blog is updated a few times a week, and is generally like the print column, only with a bit more cursing.

Aside from pimping my own stuff, I’ve definitely enjoyed The Triple Deke, for Wings fans; Down Goes Brown, for Leafs fans or any hockey fan with a sense of humour, really; and The Hockey Writers, which has 30 bloggers covering 30 teams and does some pretty awesome longer features on occasion.

Cheers!

You can’t find better hockey banter or a more lively group of fans anywhere else on todays social networking sites, and their blogging community is pretty extensive, sports wise.

Word Press is also a favorite place of mine.
I feel that it gives bloggers a little more sense of individuality than most free blog hosting sites.

I have yet to experience all of the different hockey blogs available, but I am still searching.

And of course, I saved the best for last - Kuklas Korner.
I’m constantly tearing through your work, gathering info, opinions and facts from around the hockey world.
You’re helping to keep us all together as a great big hockey family, and I appreciate it.

I use http://www.crashthecrease.com. Looking at the comments in your section I see there have been other people mentioning this site as well. It combines what I need. Hockey nuts. Regardless of team. I’m a Sabres fan, but being from the UK, I just love hockey generally. I just love Crash The Crease. Content is great. The layouts good, it doesn’t seem important but some blogs just seem to be laid out so bad. So kudos to them for keeping it easy to understand. Like I said, the content is great. Updated regularly. They have a great podcast too! Not a big fan of podcasts. I’ve heard some recently and I’ve been let down. But the Crash The Crease one is great. It’s just like listening to friends talking about the NHL in a pub. It’s casual but it’s great. It’s better that way.

Shameless plug alert!

Thanks Paul for letting us promote our hockey blogs! My blog is called Hockey Gal and I write about anything and everything happening in the NHL. I like to keep my readers informed and entertained, and I encourage everyone to put in their two cents! Most of all, I like to prove the hockey world that yes, girls do know a thing or two about hockey! I’ve worked in hockey broadcasting for 2 years and I write for several other websites (covering the Nashville Predators and the Milwaukee Admirals), but Hockey Gal really is my pride and joy.

You can also find Hockey gal on twitter.com/HockeyGalMke and on Facebook.com (search Hockey Gal). Make sure to find me on there, as I love following over hockey blogs and meeting other writers!

Now that I have the plug out of the way, I’ve got to make mention of my favorite hockey podcast. If you haven’t heard the show yet, it’s call The Blue Line: Hockey Talk Radio. The show is hosted by this guy named Millian, and he is just fantastic. His take on current events around the NHL is totally unique and a lot of fun to listen to. Best of all you can download the podcasts on itunes or at the website http://www.bluelinetalkradio.com and listen to them whenever you darn well please.

Hope you all stop by Hockey Gal! Happy reading!

I enjoy Crash the Crease because as a comprehensive portal it gathers stories from all over the internet into one hub that makes finding stories easy. The writers on Crash the Crease know their teams and hockey in general well and are informative.

Fanthrashtic is an unapologetic look into my opinions on all things Thrashers..but the one thing I’ll say is that I call it like I see it…which means I don’t pull punches on the team either…

First, the shameless plug to my own site:  Low On OIl

My blog, Low On Oil, focuses on the fan experience of being an Oilers fan.  Being an Oilers fan is chalk full of highs and lows along with three years of playoff withdrawal.  The blog is a mix of news, rumors, stats, along with some bad photoshopping and humor.

I read tons of hockey blogs with the list including Lowetide, Puck Daddy, Hockey or Die, Cult of Hockey, From the Rink, and several others.

Last year, when the Oilers missed the playoffs again, I had to adopt a team.  I jumped on the Penguins bandwagon.  The Pens Blog is a riot.  There’s a ton of great blogs popping up on Bloguin also.  Do it!

I am a huge fan of the following AHL blogs - they are written by the newspaper journalists on the teams’ beat, but they are dedicated, consistently updated, and very insightful. You can tell the passion these reporters have for their job, and they all relish being able to write beyond their allotted print space.

Sharp on the Sens

Penguins Insider

Hockey O-Zone (Amerks)
Crunch Hockey Blog

I am currently loving The Strangest One of All, especially the Absurd Goalie Monday feature.

I blog myself at ...On Being a Sports Girl, but I focus much more on college hockey and other sports than the NHL. If you want a funny take on the new Facebook group trying to get Matt Gilroy back on the Rangers, I’m your blog. If you want hard hitting Bruins analysis, probably not your blog.

In addition to a very strong stable of NHL writers, Crash the Crease also has a fantastic podcast show every Sunday called The Hockey Guys.  It is from 2PM-4Pm & is growing each week in listeners, as well as having columnists from various publications and popular bloggers from all of the NHL teams.

Crash the Crease not only has all of the issues with NHL teams covered, but it also is a one-stop destination for all of the up-to-date news.  It’s a pleasure being part of the hockey community and watching CTC growing exponentially in popularity.

Thanks for this forum, always enjoy your work.

I am a new writer at Crash the Crease, blogging for the LA Kings. I have to start by agreeing with a couple of comments already made. I’m not a podcast person AT ALL. I have not listend to many, if any. However, I find these to be fun and informative. I’m enjoying the banter and often find myself wanting to join in and insert myself. Additionally, the layout does make it very easy to find what you want, when you want it, quickly.

What I would like to add is that I love how many different writing styles there are on CTC. You have straight news writers, those that add their commentary and humor (such as myself) and those that can go back and forth. However, all are dedicated, knowledgable and do their best to be as accurate as possible. It is a credit to the website, its administration and growing/loyal following.

A little late, but I’ll list some not mentioned yet. Visually I prefer independent blogs (on Blogger & Wordpress, mostly) to the sports blog networks, but I do hang out on SB Nation a fair amount.

I read Blackhawks blogs every day, but in some ways I prefer blogs by fans of other teams I follow. Bruins: Hockey Gone Wild, Tea Party Throwdown, Fire Wagon Hockey. Maple Leafs: Down Goes Brown, Wonderful World of Loser Domi.

What’s dangerous in hockey blogging are blogs so entertaining they almost make me root for teams I’m indifferent or hostile to: Four Habs Fans, Interchangeable Parts (Devils), Puck Huffers (Penguins), The Scrappy Octopus (Wings).

Hockey Blog in Canada and Third String Goalie have a wealth of information and I link to them a lot. I was excited to find hlog (Hockey’s Ladies of Greatness) but it looks inactive.

Finally, the blog I started in October, around the same time I really got into hockey. Yes, I became a fan and started a blog nearly at the same time, which might be ill-advised, but I’m having a lot of fun with it and don’t pretend to be an expert. It’s about the joy of finally getting into a sport after ignoring sports my whole life. I’ve already been to a lot of NHL and AHL games, and I watch whatever games I can find online, check NHL.com often (sometimes finding amusing mistakes, like a story mentioning the “Minnesota Mild”), look for 1970s hockey biographies at the library, and of course, read tons of blogs and news sites (many more good ones on my blogroll). All this is at a little chippy

Steve McKichan (former Toronto Maple Leaf goalie coach) had a vision of quality goaltending discussion/insruction/content online.

http://www,futureprolive.com
is the reuslt of that vision.

Also on baord are Mitch Korn, (Nashville Predators goalie coach), and Mike Valley (Dallas Stars goalie coach).

I don’t know of another website with three NHL experienced goalie coaches providing content.

Check out the Blog, and take advantage of the free content.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have had a minor role in the development of the site, BUT I truly believe in the product.

My wife has been running the web site http://www.itsallaboutlappy.com since he left the LA Kings years ago. It’s dedicated to Flyers winger Ian Laperriere.  We were fans at first and now have become good friends with him.    He’s a great guy, family man and is hillarious. Most of all, he is heavily involved in the community and loves to work with kids. We have worked with him in Colorado to help the Ronald McDonald houses their. We’ve sold hundreds of t-shirts with the “it’s all about Lappy” logo and other items. The proceeds have gone to the Ronald McDonald houses. So, check out the site and you will see some inspirational stuff and also some very funny quotes from Lappy.

I guess self-promotion is the game here. wink Besides following some of the previously listed sites and others—namely Japer’s Rink, Musings of a Hockey Mom, Love the Game Don’t Like Puck Bunnies, NHL.com, RocktheRed.net, and Washington Caps Insider—I occasionally write a little something too at http://camarowrx.blogspot.com.

My blog is ThirdStringGoalie.com. It refers to “A fan in the stands wearing a jersey”.

I have over 450 hockey jerseys in my collection, so I decided to share them with the world by posting a different one each day, telling the story behind either the player, the team or the country it’s from.

You never know what you are going to get each day, current players, turn of the century stories, college or international jerseys.

I also have a few other features on my blog, such as my “Hockey Name Generator”, some countdown clocks and links to my favorite sites and blogs.

I suppose a clickable link might be more helpful.

Be sure to check my list of labels at the bottom of the right hand column to see posts about your favorite team or player.
