A Great Shot Or Bad Goal?

Cam Fowler of the Ducks with the game winner late in OT against the Flames.
I went to bed thinking more of a bad goal than a great shot. I see a lot of open net to the left of Kiprusoff who may have been thinking forehand instead of backhand.
Goalie experts, what do you think?

Living With Niedermayer

from Helene Elliott of the LA Times,
Scott Niedermayer, who signed with the Ducks in 2005 and shared their 2007 Stanley Cup victory with younger brother Rob, lives here with his wife, Lisa, and their four sons, ages 2 to 11. It’s a happily busy place: During a recent visit the kids came home from school and dived into their homework before hockey practice, the cookies were at the mouthwatering stage and the dog was woofing for a treat from housekeeper/babysitter Veronica Bech.
Into this whirlwind Scott and Lisa invited rookie defenseman Cam Fowler, the Ducks’ first pick and the 12th overall selection in the NHL draft in June. They give him broccoli at dinner, company when he wants it, privacy when he needs it and a haven while he explores his new world.
“It feels a little weird for me sometimes, having a Hall of Fame guy take my car in for an oil change or something like that, but that’s just the kind of guy that he is,” said Fowler, who was born in Windsor, Canada, but grew up in Farmington Hills, Mich.

Cam Fowler Ready For The Show

from Dan Wood of Ducks.com,
Fowler will be 18 years, 10 months and three days old when the Ducks take on the Detroit Red Wings in their NHL regular-season opener Friday night at Joe Louis Arena. Only defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky, who was 18 years, eight months and 13 days when he made his Ducks debut on Jan. 21, 1995, was younger than Fowler.
Even more amazing, despite his baby face and boyish charm, Fowler has already defied his youth in the eyes of a generally tough critic – Ducks coach Randy Carlyle.
“You don’t look at him as an 18-year-old kid. You look at him as a hockey player,” Carlyle said Thursday after the Ducks went through their final pre-season practice at Joe Louis Arena.
“He’s done everything to earn the opportunity to play,” Carlyle said. “We think he’s a special kid, but we always have to caution ourselves. You don’t want to put him in situations that he can’t possibly survive in. It’s a feather in his cap that he’s made it this far. For him not to play, something drastic would have to happen.”

Fowler Appears To Have Made The Ducks Squad
by Paul on 10/01/10 at 09:20 AM ET

from Curtis Zupke of Ducks Blog at the OC Register,
Coach Randy Carlyle all but conceded that Fowler, 18, will be with the squad for possibly the first nine games of the regular season before the organization decides whether to send him back to his junior team.
If he plays a 10th game, the first year of his entry-level contract would be triggered.
“We knew he has the skills and we know he has the skating ability, so we have to make a decision based upon whether he’s going to start with our hockey club and get his 10th game in,” Carlyle said.
