from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Kopecky will undergo tests today to determine if he sustained any more damage Thursday during a third-period fight with Anaheim’s Francois Beauchemin.
Kopecky, his right cheek swollen, said he felt OK and his vision was good after Beauchemin battered him with a flurry of punches. Kopecky will have X-rays and a CT scan....
“When you take a punch to the head it’s always scary, so we’ll see,’’ Kopecky said. “Right now I don’t know (the damage). I feel all right.’’

from Helene Elliott of the LA Times,
Three games into his return from reconstructive surgery on his left knee, Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin has shaken off any sense of hesitance or rustiness.
“Everyday feels strong. No setback, no pain,” said Beauchemin, who missed 62 games and nearly five months.
His teammates feel even better about having his physicality back in the lineup for the playoffs, when they need it most.
“I’ve been a bit surprised how he’s stepped in and played as well as he has,” Scott Niedermayer said Sunday as the Ducks prepared for Game 2 tonight at HP Pavilion.
“He was down for a long time. He doesn’t look like he’s really missed a beat. It looks like he’s been there all year. It’s been good for us, for sure. He’s played three games, and they’ve all been good.”

With The Return Of Beauchemin, Ducks Get Better

from Scott Burnside of ESPN,
Barring a setback, (Francois) Beauchemin will join them Friday night, and the Ducks suddenly don’t look like anybody’s idea of a walk in the playoff park.
“I’m pretty excited about it,” Beauchemin told ESPN.com. “I’ve been feeling really strong.”
Although he does not boast the profile of the Ducks’ other twin defensive giants, captain Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger, Beauchemin’s contributions to the Ducks’ emergence as a league power cannot be underestimated. During the Ducks’ run to the Cup in 2007, he averaged an incredible 30:33 a night in ice time during the playoffs.

from the Anaheim Ducks,
Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin suffered a torn left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the third period of last night’s game vs. Nashville. Beauchemin underwent an MRI exam this afternoon which revealed the injury. He is expected to miss approximately six months.
“This is an unfortunate injury for Francois and we feel badly for him,” said Anaheim Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “However, knowing his character as a player and person, we know he will rebound from this and return to the ice at full strength. Our team has faced adversity before and we expect everyone to step up in his absence.”
