via Jeremy Rutherford of the Morning Skate at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
Blues veteran Keith Tkachuk received a contract offer from the club this week, and after some back-and-forth talks, an agreement could be reached as soon as today.
“I don’t want to get into it until it’s finally done,” Tkachuk said today. “We’ll know more today. We’re working on something right now.”
Reached in Las Vegas, where he is for tonight’s NHL awards ceremony, Blues President John Davidson said: “It’s close . . . we’re trying to keep the phones going. We want to get another year out of Keith and he wants to stay in St. Louis. There’s common ground there.”

Post-Season Has Not Been Kind To Tkachuk
by Paul on 04/20/09 at 11:19 PM ET

from Matthew Sekeres of the Globe and Mail,
When Keith Tkachuk calls it a career, which won’t be this summer, he will go down as one of the greatest Americans to have played in the NHL.
But there is an uncomfortable truth about the 37-year-old forward, whose hair and beard are now primarily grey, and it seems to be continuing this spring. The St. Louis Blues are facing playoff elimination, down three games to none to the Vancouver Canucks in a best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final, and are climbing a mountain of history to erase that disadvantage.
For Tkachuk, first-round exits are par for the course. They have happened 10 times in his 12 postseason appearances, and it’s about to be 11 of 13 if the Canucks can win tonight in Game 4 at the Scottrade Center.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that forward Keith Tkachuk’s X-rays on his left wrist were negative and he is listed as day-to-day. Tkachuk suffered the injury in the third period on Thursday, March 19 in Vancouver.
This should clear up the erroneous report posted on the web that he had suffered a broken wrist.

With Blues In The Playoff Race, Will They Move Tkachuk?
by Paul on 02/27/09 at 01:16 PM ET

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,
Thanks to only three regulation losses during a 19-game stretch since Jan. 15, the Blues—somewhat amazingly—are three points out of playoff spot and the trade deadline is around the corner.
Who’s kidding who, St. Louis might very well move Tkachuk, an unrestricted free agent July 1; but maybe, just maybe, they might also have to tell him, “Sorry, Keith. Unpack your bags, we’re still in it!”
“Well, that’s the idea,” Blues president John Davidson told ESPN.com on Thursday night after his team won 3-1 in Dallas. “We’ll see what happens.”

Tkachuk Trade Speculation
by Alanah McGinley on 02/06/09 at 10:10 AM ET

From Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal via Faceoff.com:
Tkachuk is no stranger to trade deadline turmoil.
In 2007, with Tkachuk an unrestricted free agent, the Blues sent him to the Atlanta Thrashers, a team desperate to make the playoffs. The Thrashers did make it to the post-season with Tkachuk, but were swept in the first round by the New York Rangers. Tkachuk then re-signed with the Blues in the off-season.
At the 2001 trade deadline, Tkachuk went to the Blues for the first time in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes for Michal Handzus, Ladislav Nagy, Jeff Taafe and a first-round draft.
This year?

Andy Murray Calls Out Players, One Responds Back

from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
“I didn’t think (Patrik) Berglund was good, I didn’t think (David) Perron was good, I didn’t think (Keith) Tkachuk was good ... I didn’t think (Brad) Boyes was good,” Murray said. “I thought (David) Backes was all right."…
“The last time I checked, we’re all in this together,” Tkachuk said. “We’ve got a young team. It’s easy to put the blame on each other. I don’t need the coach to tell me through the media, or any other player through the media ... if that’s what he’s searching for, it’s a very young and fragile team to be doing that right now in the middle of the season. But if that’s what he has to do, that’s his decision. He’s the coach.”

from Dan Wood of Ducks Blog at the OC Register,
It’s hard to believe it was 16 years ago that Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne and St. Louis Blues center Keith Tkachuk were part of a tremendous rookie class with the former Winnipeg Jets....
“I’m glad I had the opportunity to go through that first season with him,” Tkachuk said. “It was one of the most phenomenal things I’ve ever seen. He was outstanding. No one knew anything about him. He just came in and dominated. No one could keep up with his speed, and everything he touched, everything he shot, went in.”

Tkachuk Finding The Net

from Pierre LeBrun’s blog at ESPN,
I’m scrolling through the NHL stats Thursday morning and do a double take. Keith Tkachuk is tied for the NHL goal-scoring lead with seven?!
What gives Mr. 36-year-old, I’m-supposed-to-be-in-the-twilight-of-my-career?
“I wish I could tell ya,” Tkachuk told ESPN.com Thursday. “I think it’s just being around the net and playing with players who are finding you. Just putting yourself in position and being in the right place at the right time is the reason why....”

via the AP,
Keith Tkachuk became the 41st player in NHL history to score 500 goals, and added an assist to help the St. Louis Blues beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 on Sunday in the season finale for both teams.
Tkachuk, a 16-year veteran, scored his 27th of the season, a short-handed goal into an empty net, with 1:34 remaining. He scored three goals in the final two regular-season games - both wins against Columbus - to reach the milestone.

1,000 Games For Tkachuk

from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
However, as Tkachuk’s opportunities get fewer, he is beginning to appreciate the career accomplishments that are coming his way. One of the most significant will come tonight when he plays Game No. 1,000 in the NHL....
“When we came in, nobody thinks they’re going to be in the league that long ... it’s an amazing accomplishment,” Weight said. “But you know ‘Walt’ ... he’s too cool for school. You know, he’ll say, ‘Ah, it’s not that big of a deal.’ But deep down, Walt knows it’s a great accomplishment and he’s excited.”

Chemistry Developing In St. Louis
by Paul on 09/23/07 at 09:38 AM ET
Comments (0)
from the St. Louis Post-Disptach,
Tkachuk was ecstatic when the Kariya deal fell in place July 1. In six seasons with the Blues, he has had only Pavol Demitra and Bill Guerin as scoring threats on his line.
“All I’ve got to do is get (Kariya) the puck and he’ll make me a better player,” Tkachuk said. “I compare him to a Pavol Demitra ... a give-and-go kind of style, which I like. He’s got unbelievable speed, unbelievable hands. Doing those 2-on-1s, he’s always moving. He’ll definitely help me.”
Kariya, who has one goal and four assists in the preseason, said the duo is developing chemistry “right away. Keith is an unbelievable hockey player. He does so many things well. He loves to play that give-and-go style of game, and that’s a game I love to play, too, so I think it’s going to be pretty quick in terms of the chemistry.”
