Mueller Enters Season With Concussion Problems Behind Him

Peter Mueller thought his concussion problems were over last September, only to suffer another one in his first game back in the Avalanche’s preseason.
He missed the entire regular season. Mueller is saying all the right things again, but with a noticeable uptick in his voice.
“I’m excited to be a hockey player again,” Mueller said Wednesday in his first public comments since last September. “Obviously, I’ve had concussions in the past and it’s something I have to deal with, but right now everything is in the right direction. Everything is pointing forward. I’m excited that it’s all behind me.”
Mueller, a left winger whose good health could be a major key to how successful the Avs are this coming season, has been skating regularly and will undergo physicals with the rest of the team Sept. 16. Assuming he passes, he’ll be on the ice with no restrictions the next day, the first of training camp.

Peter Mueller Won’t Play This Season

Despite the fact that his concussion symptoms have improved, Peter Mueller has been shut down for the season by the Avalanche. He will not play this year at all, but will continue with his rehab and the plan is for him to be ready at training camp next fall.
Mueller’s loss obviously was a factor in the Avs’ bad season. It was a confusing, frustrating thing for all involved. He seemed to be fully recovered in last fall’s camp from a previous concussion suffered after a big hit from Rob Blake late last season. But in the Avs’ very first preseason game against the Kings, he suffered another concussion.

Peter Mueller Out With Another Concussion

I just learned some bad news: Peter Mueller is out indefinitely with another concussion. He suffered it late in last night’s game and a diagnosis wasn’t made until today.
I remember Mueller was hit up against the glass in one play, but don’t remember the player from the Kings involved, and I’m not even positive that was how the injury happened. All I know is, he’s out indefinitely.
This is horrible news.

Mueller has concussion, out indefitely. Not on road trip
No video of the Rob Blake hit on Mueller so far, but a few screen caps can be viewed here. (Mueller hit the boards face first)
As I tweeted last night, Mueller had no idea Blake was there but hockey sense should have told him a defender was coming.

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired forwards Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Wojtek Wolski.
“Peter is a skilled young player who has a tremendous upside,” said Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman. “We feel he will be an important addition to our lineup.”
“Kevin will add more depth up front,” added Sherman. “He spent some extended time in the NHL last season and we look forward to having him join our organization.”

Mueller—Rookie of the Month

The National Hockey League announced today that Phoenix Coyotes forward Peter Mueller has been named NHL Rookie of the Month for January.
Mueller led all rookies in scoring for the month with 6-8-14 in 14 games as the Coyotes surged to a 9-4-1 record in January.
