from FloridaPanthers.com,
Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the Florida Panthers announced today the restructuring of the hockey club’s broadcast teams on FOX Sports Florida and Sports Talk 790 the Ticket for the 2009-10 NHL season. Steve Goldstein, Billy Lindsay and Randy Moller will return to the broadcast booth in 09-10, while Denis Potvin will not be retained. Goldstein will continue to handle television play-by-play duties with Lindsay joining him as color analyst, while Moller will call Panthers radio broadcasts on 790 The Ticket.
“We look forward to teaming Steve “Goldie” Goldstein and Billy Lindsay on our television broadcasts and we are confident that they will provide entertaining and insightful commentary that will resonate well with our fans. Meanwhile, Randy Moller has done a superb job in the radio booth over the last two seasons providing our fans with exciting and colorful broadcasts that have gained attention on a local and national level.” said SSE president & chief operating officer Michael Yormark.
added 6:22pm, from Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel,
“It’s tough. It’s very tough,” Denis said, adding that he’ll be trying to look forward instead of looking back. “You come to a point where you figure you’re a lifer with a company or a group. That’s not the case anymore. I was surprised. I was not expecting it.”

Earlier today, Denis Potvin was on “Hockey This Morning” (NHL Home Ice XM 204) describing the scene last night in Buffalo regarding the horrific injury to Richard Zednik. Denis was doing color for FSN Florida last night.
Our thanks to Hockey This Morning on NHL Home Ice XM 204 for the providing the audio for KK readers.

from On Frozen Pond,
Torts even used Denis Potvin as an example in his pregame press conference, saying the league has gone soft. He says in Denis’ day, players expected to be hit and how a player took a hit was a big part of how the game was played. Now, he says, players don’t expect to be hit.

Potvin Takes A Shot At Rangers “D”
by Paul on 09/09/07 at 12:35 AM ET

from the Palm Beach Post,
Can the Rangers’ “D” get it done? The additions of Chris Drury and Scott Gomez give New York the league’s most potent offense and Henrik Lundqvist is solid in goal. But a defense that wasn’t very good last year looks even more shaky after losing Tom Poti and Karel Rachunek.
“It’s brutal,” said Panthers broadcaster Denis Potvin (who, truth be told, never will be accused of being a Rangers fan). “They’ll be OK in goal, but the defense is a big issue.”
“There seems to be an imbalance there, but some people in the know say it’s not as bad as people think,” national broadcaster Bill Clement added.
