via Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel,
The Panthers have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent center Dominic Moore. The signing is expected to be announced by the team Monday.
“He’s really excited about it,” Moore’s agent, Larry Kelly, who also represents Panthers defenseman Bryan Allen, told the Sun Sentinel on Sunday. “He thinks it’s a huge opportunity to play for Peter DeBoer.”
Kelly said he had been talking with about four teams about Moore.

Moore May Be Gone Tomorrow

from Paul Hunter of the Toronto Star, I
t is almost certain that tonight’s game against New Jersey will be Dominic Moore’s last as a Maple Leaf....
Burke, though, was still unwilling to completely close the door on Moore’s future with the Leafs.
“It’s still too early to say,” the GM said last night.
However, it’s difficult to believe Moore will sign in Toronto, even though both parties would like that to happen. It is believed the two sides remain about $1 million (all figures U.S.) apart per season, a gap that is just too wide to be bridged.
Moore, based on his breakout season with the Leafs, is thought to be looking for roughly triple the $900,000 he earns this season with a desired two-year deal in the $5 million range. While that seems steep, there are those who believe Moore could command more than $3 million a season on the open market this summer.

Decision Time Coming Up For Dominic Moore

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star,
As a waiver pickup last winter, Moore stands as one of John Ferguson’s better acquisitions during his time as Leaf GM. He’s making $900,000 (U.S.) on a one-year contract, certainly one of the cannier moves Cliff Fletcher made last summer.
Now it’s up to Burke. Trade Moore before the deadline with his value arguably at its peak? Sign him to a multi-year deal this summer? Let him walk as a 28-year-old free agent?…
Moore’s never had much relative financial security in the game, so maybe he’s thinking this is his chance to nail down a solid contract a great deal closer to the league’s $2 million average salary.
Then again, neither he nor his agent, Larry Kelly, has yet broached the matter with Burke.
Going to Harvard might make you smarter, but it doesn’t make you a soothsayer. As the Leafs try to figure what Moore is, he can only wonder where he’s headed.

from Russo’s Rants,
The Wild has placed center Dominic Moore on waivers, sources confirmed this morning, so Koivu will be able to return tomorrow in Chicago.
After talking to Jacques Lemaire, Doug Risebrough said Lemaire made clear he wants to continue to play Pavol Demitra at center and that Moore would be the odd guy out.
