Video- Raffi Torres Questionable Hit On Jan Hejda
by Paul on 12/30/11 at 05:37 AM ET

No penalty on the play and I am not really sure why Hejda started going down before the hit. Did he see Torres coming or was it just a fall?

Finances Dictate Sabres’ Roster Moves

from Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News,
Understand, the beef here isn’t about Adam, Kennedy, Niedermayer or Gerbe in particular. It’s about management’s approach in general. The Sabres are hoping to make the playoffs, but there’s a big difference between hoping to reach the postseason and doing what’s required to get there.
Almost every move General Manager Darcy Regier has made since the lockout has been based on attrition, not competition, and money, not winning. The Sabres too often this year looked like they were going through the motions, much like Regier did last summer. Their awakening going into the all-star break could be too late.

Blue Jackets Lose Jan Hejda To Knee Injury

from Aaron Portzline of Puck-rakers,
Blue Jackets defenseman Jan Hejda is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks with a sprained left knee, The Dispatch has learned.
Hejda was injured with 1:24 remaining in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Calgary in Nationwide Arena, when he and Flames winger Curtis Glencross inadvertantly collided—left knee on left knee—as they crossed through the slot in the Flames’ end….
It’s a huge blow for the Blue Jackets, who already are without defenseman Mike Commodore because of a groin injury. Hejda and Commodore formed the Blue Jackets No. 1 defensive pair last season.
Hejda has a plus-8 rating in five games this season, tied with Dallas Nicklas Grossman for tops in the NHL.

Nick Kypreos is Wrong

Aaron Portzline at Puck-rakers writes:
Apparently, Nick Kypreos reported on Sportsnet last night that the Blue Jackets were going to trade defenseman Jan Hejda and a fourth-round pick to the Flyers for winger Mike Knuble.
This is ridiculous. This is crazy. This will not happen. Not a chance.
Well, that seems pretty definitive. Although this doesn’t stop the kids on HF Boards from tackling the rumor from every angle they can think of as well (and Kypreos doesn’t fare too well there either.)
Must be a slow day in rumor land.
