Finger Out With Foot Injury

Defenceman Jeff Finger, who has only played one pre-season game, will likely miss the first week of the season as a foot injury is taking longer to heal than originally expected.
The 28-year old, who signed a four year deal worth $14 million with the Leafs in the summer, suffered the injury in the Maple Leafs pre-season opening game against the Sabres.

Even as he summered on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Finger was well aware he was being ripped by some parties in Toronto, his new hockey home.
So be it. In fact, despite having not played a single game as a Maple Leaf as of yet, he understands where the naysayers are coming from.
“Of course I paid attention to what was going on,” Finger said. “Some people might say the criticism of me is unfair but I wouldn’t. I can see why some things would be said about me. I’m coming from the Western Conference. I’ve played fewer than 100 NHL games in my career....”

Leafs Sign Jeff Finger, Curtis Joseph

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Jeff Finger to a four-year deal worth $3.5 million a season, and goaltender Curtis Joseph to a one-year, $700,000 contract. Details to follow.

It Happened Again

Brenden Morrow was skating along the boards, interfered with by the Avs Jeff Finger and taken into the glass partition between the benches. Finger gets 2 for interference, Morrow gets stunned and was down on his knees for a few minutes while being treated by the Stars trainer.
Morrow is back on the ice, after missing a few shifts.
