Stajan Out With Shoulder Injury

But the Flames lost centre Matt Stajan for an undetermined period of time with a shoulder injury.
“He hurt his shoulder,” said assistant general manager Jay Feaster. “He was examined here tonight. Obviously couldn’t come back. But we won’t know exactly the extent of it until he sees the doctors back in Calgary.”
Stajan suffered the injury near the Calgary bench in the first period when he was reaching for the puck.
“He’s going to miss some time,” Feaster said. “But we’ll wait until we see the doctors.”

Stajan Signs Extension

Forward Matt Stajan has agreed to terms with Calgary Flames on four-year contract extension worth about $3.5 million per year.
He was scheduled to be unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Stajan Suffers Eye Injury During Soccer Warmup

Matt Stajan spent Sunday in a hospital with an eye injury and he will be lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs for at least a week as the result of a rowdy soccer game.
Stajan, the Leafs’ No. 1 centre, was hit on the eye with a soccer ball before the Leafs’ practice on Saturday during a warmup exercise common to NHL teams. Players gather in a circle and try to keep the ball in the air as long as possible by kicking or heading it. If a player allows the ball to hit the floor he is out of the game and the game ends when no players are left.

Leafs Sign Matt Stajan, 2 years

The Toronto Maple Leafs will announce later today that they have signed young forward Matt Stajan to a two-year deal worth $3.5-million (all currency U.S.).
With Stajan under contract that means the Leafs have 24 players signed for the upcoming season for a $51.3-million payroll. The Leafs also are close to signing 28-year-old Swedish defenceman Jonas Frogren.
