From Sam Weinman at Rangers Report:
So much for Petr Nedved at least making the trip to Europe. The 36-year-old center was among those given the pink slip before today’s practice.
It looks like Greg Moore, Artem Anisimov were also reassigned.
“I told him this summer we had a lot of young guys and we have only so many spots,” Glen Sather told me just now. “Plus, there’s a cap issue to deal with. I thought he played well. I just knew what we’d be up against. But I didn’t want to not give him the opportunity.”

Nedved A Long Shot To Make The Rangers

from Andrew Gross of the Record,
“The camp is so short and there are only so many games,” said Nedved, who scored a goal and was named first star in the Rangers’ 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night at Madison Square Garden. “I’m not in the position where I could say I’ll play good next month because, next month, I’ll be playing somewhere else.”
Most likely, that will be with Liberec in the Czech league, which reached an agreement with Nedved to allow him to try out for the Rangers.
Nedved knew his chances were slim given general manager Glen Sather and coach Tom Renney’s desire to make the Rangers younger and faster.

From Steve Zipay at Blue Notes in Newsday:
Thirty-six-year old Czech center Petr Nedved, who played 478 games with the Rangers in three stints between 1992-93 and 2003-04, is coming to training camp to try to land a job.
“He has spoken with Tom and Glen and passed up some other offers in Europe, wanting to come to camp with the opportunity to earn a job here,” a Rangers spokesman confirmed a few moments ago. “There is no commitment on our end.”
