from Jennifer Van Grove of Mashable,
Earlier this morning, the NHL had a brilliant idea to tap NHL fans on TwitterTin order to crowdsource Twitter Lists of NHL fans by their favorite teams. They tweeted, “Hey guys–we want to create lists of #NHL fans by team! Please Tweet @NHL your favorite team or teams w/ the hashtag #myfavoriteNHLteam.”
That tweet proved to be more successful in mobilizing fans than originally anticipated, with tweets flooding in from fans affiliating themselves with their favorite teams. The collection is currently being pulled together…

from Craig Custance of the Sporting News,
In my never-ending goal to make life easier on you, the reader, I’m compiling a list of useful Twitter accounts related to hockey. If you’re not on Twitter, I suggest you sign up to follow some of these people because it’s a really useful way to get news and information quickly. It’s my guess that we’ll see every journalist utilizing Twitter at some point, but here’s who I’ve found so far.

NHL.com has launched a contest to Get Out of the Cold: a trip for 4 to the Universal Orlando resort in Florida. You need to enter before the end of the first period of the Detroit Red Wings/Pittsburgh Penguins game on Sunday, and the winner will be announced by the third period.
Additionally—as Forechecker highlighted the other day—Twittering about this weekend’s game could earn you a subscription to NHL Game Center Live for the rest of the season. Just use the hashtag #NHLonNBC in your tweets, and you’ll be automatically entered.
*post originally dated Feb.6, 11:07am ET. Today’s game preview at NHL.com

Feeding Your Hockey News

Just a reminder of the various ways Kukla’s Korner feeds and updates can be accessed if you’re not able to get to the website all the time.
- RSS Subscriptions—If you want to subscribe to everything KK (that is, the “Home” page posts which include the Hockey page, Abel to Yzerman, Eye on the Media and Canucks & Beyond) use this link here. Or if you’d rather choose just specific feeds this page has them all listed individually. (If you don’t use a feedreader, Bloglines, Netvibes and Gmail’s reader are a few of our favorites.)
- Twitter—We started to Twitter a couple months ago which is handy for keeping up with headlines and links in a variety of ways—at the Twitter website, by IM or via your cell phone. A fair amount of traffic from our Twitter feed has shown us how useful this service has proven to be for a lot of people, subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
Hopefully these things help you keep up with the hockey news! Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.
