Penguins’ Kennedy Suspended One Game

Penguins centre Tyler Kennedy has been suspended one game by the NHL for initiating a fight with the Maple Leafs’ Luke Schenn on Saturday night.
The Leafs had asked the league to review the incident, saying that Kennedy had come off to the Pens’ bench to start an altercation with the young defenceman.

Leafs Not Happy With Actions Of Kennedy

Luke Schenn’s fight with Tyler Kennedy in the second period last night was a crowd pleaser, but the Leafs were far less enamoured with Kennedy’s actions prior to the bout.
Toronto GM Brian Burke phoned NHL disciplinarians last night seeking a review of the incident at 9:36, which the Leafs feel was instigated by Kennedy.
“(Burke) called the league and they are investigating,” Leafs coach Ron Wilson said after the Leafs’ 5-4 win over Kennedy’s Penguins.
“In my opinion, he (Kennedy) came off the bench and instigated the fight, so we’ll see what the league’s investigation finds.”

The Penguins got a rude awakening at their Detroit-area hotel when a fire alarm went off about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
“It was kind of annoying,” forward Tyler Kennedy said. “I just stayed in bed. Worse comes to worse, I’d just jump out the window.”
Kennedy said hotel employees confirmed that it was a false alarm.
“They came out and said it was just someone fooling around,” he said. “Probably was a Red Wings fan.”
Also a note that Ryan Malone is currently sporting a broken nose, courtesy of Kronwall in Game #1

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy will miss the YoungStars Game at the NHL All-Star Weekend in Atlanta this weekend due to mononucleosis, it was announced Wednesday by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. Kennedy will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.
