While discussing a possible Detroit-Philadelphia SCF matchup, Ken Hitchcock was asked about coaching against Scotty Bowman.
from the Phillyburbs,
Asked about this, Hitchcock gave a sly grin and said, “In other words, what you’re saying is, did I learn after about a year and a half of getting schooled? You learn about fake line changes, guys going coming to the bench, going back out ... his matchups were unpredictable, Scotty was the best bench management coach around.
“The part I liked most was, Scotty got up for good teams. He got animated. You could see him behind the bench, looking very stoic at times, but against us he was very animated. He was really into it. You knew your team had to be at its best.’’
