Customized Jersey Update #2

For anyone following my saga with the whole customized replica jersey, I just put in an order over at Ice Jerseys for a new Sharks 3rd jersey replica with customized (if you recall, customized replicas from NHL.com only have heat-transferred lettering/numbering while Ice Jerseys and a few other places have authentic stitching and materials). Unfortunately, that particular jersey is on back-order for about a month, but once I get it, I’ll give a full report on the quality vs. my NHL.com replica I bought last year.
Also, if you’re looking for holiday savings, here are the coupon codes I used for my purchase.
The two coupons I found were:
-10% off entire order: COUPTEN
-$10 off purchases of $50 or more: MONK10
Also, Ice Jerseys is offering free shipping for $65 or more.
For you comparison shoppers (or if you’re like me and just plain freakin’ cheap), here’s the total cost breakdown. I think I actually got a pretty good deal:
-Replica jersey: $112.50
-Customization: $79
Sub-total: $191.50
After free shipping and 10% off, the final total was $173.05. Considering the Sharks store sells named replicas for $200 + tax, it’s a nice little chunk of change to save. When I did my last post about customized jerseys, I basically came to the conclusion that the fastest, easiest way to get them with nice stitching was through the in-arena store for most teams even though they tended to charge a premium. If you’re willing to be a little more patient (customization can take 3-4 weeks from most online vendors as they usually ship them out to do it), you can save a little bit of cash.
Oh, and if you feel like supporting your friends here at KK while using those coupon codes above, feel free to use this link to get over there…

I weighed the replica vs. authentic for a while because of the shoulder patch thing but the bottom line was that the extra $150 for the shoulder patches wasn’t worth it to me, especially since the SJ on the shoulder is pretty colorless other than the small fin logo. But yeah, I totally agree about the cheapness from RBK and the NHL. I’m guessing it was a business decision to try to sell more authentics because the old replicas were perfect minus the fight strap and less-heavy material.

I totally agree with you that the extra $150 is no joke.
I guess that’s why I still haven’t gotten a new style jersey!

You’ll be happy with your icejerseys.com product for sure. They take a while because of the hand stitching job, but I bought one as a gift last year and it was nice.
I do have a problem with the replicas in general however. People have been complaining about this since day one of the new jersey, but the shoulder patches are cheap heat transfer ones and not the hand stitched sewn real ones. I cannot believe they decided to forego a patch like that which probably cost them a few bucks in savings.
Shame on the NHL and/or Reebok.
