Koivu to Pittsburgh? In My Dreams

Here’s a new trade rumor for you. The Pittsburgh Penguins, in an effort to shore up scoring on the wing and anticipating the return of Ryan Whitney, are looking to package Alex Goligoski with some draft picks over to Montreal for impending UFA Saku Koivu.
Where did I hear that rumor? The one place where I guarantee no one else could have found it.
You know you’re a hockey nut when you dream about two teams that you have no fan connection with—and that’s what happened last night. Maybe it was the leftover turkey, or maybe it was the double-double animal style I had for lunch at In-n-Out burger. Maybe it was watching NHL On The Fly right before I went to sleep but I dreamed last night that the aforementioned trade took place.
Why am I posting this? Well, it’s two little experiments. First off, maybe I’ve got secret trade-predicting abilities that come out in my sleep. We’ll know if this trade comes to fruition eventually.
The second, more tangible experiment is that I’m curious to see if rumor mongers will pick this up and report it as true. I know some fans have planted false rumors on message boards before, only to see them show up on a rumor site before they conveniently disappear or are justified in a roundabout way when the truth is revealed.
Heh. We’ll see what happens.

Double-Double animal style sounds delicious. Can’t really imagine Saku in anything other than a Habs jersey though, but stranger dreams have come true. How about dreaming up one where Mikko comes to SJ for lessee… Semenov?

1) Keep dreaming Mike. Even if the habs were thinking of trading their captain we doubt it would be to an Eastern team and probably not one with Zero cap space!

So what was the result of the experiment, did any rumor sites pick up the story?
