Mats Sundin vs. Axl Rose

Oh, that wacky Mats Sundin—will he ever make up his mind? According to his agent (courtesy of Spector), Mats might…wait for it…wait for it...return to the NHL sometime this year.

Wow, Mats, way to be uncommittal. But you know what’s scary? If Mats doesn’t sign somewhere by the end of November, another oft-delayed superstar will beat him to the punch when it comes to anticipated returns. Sundin fans who like to rock, you can no longer say, “At least Mats will sign before the new Guns N’ Roses album appears.”

Yes Virginia, there is an Axl Rose. And a new Guns N’ Roses album (without Slash). And it comes out on November 23.

The long, long, long, long-awaited Chinese Democracy—an album that’s literally been in the making for well over a decade, including a few awful soundtrack songs, a wacky world tour complete with canceled gigs and riots, and a strange MTV VMA appearance—is finally being pressed on CD and digital release. As for Mats, that’s yet another thing that has stolen his oft-delayed thunder. Fortunately, there are still a few things in limbo that he can beat out with his wishy-washiness:

-Peter Forsberg’s foot
-A Radim Vrbata goal
-A Steven Stamkos point
-The 2nd NHL coach is fired (the countdown is on!)
-A Stanley Cup in Toronto
-The film version of The Hobbit
-The new (hopefully good) U2 album
-A new American president (got till January for inauguration, Mats)
-The release of Playstation Home (that’s for you fellow gamers out there)

So Mats, take your time. There are plenty of things that can beat you to the punch while you sit at home with your model girlfriend, sipping on Orangina/vodka mixes while pondering the mysteries of life. And every so often, you’ll pop up in the rumor mill over at Spector’s Hockey just to make things interesting. Hey, maybe you can even secretly tour with Axl Rose—someone has to replace Slash and Buckethead, right?

According to Game On!‘s Stan Fischler, the odds of Sundin landing in New York are pretty good.

Fischler: Sundin to Rangers?

I really hope he stays retired. The last thing the Rangers need is another over-the-hill, over-priced superstar at the tail end of his career.

I have six teams on my list that i think Sundin might be going to. Out of the six I think Sundin is going back to Toronto. Here are my analysis
