I saw this today while perusing the morning news. It can’t be worse than the sequel, right?
Universal Pictures has set Dean Parisot (Fun With Dick and Jane) to direct a remake of the 1977 hockey comedy classic Slap Shot.
Peter Steinfeld (“21”) is writing the script; Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

Considering the releases of “Slap Shot 2” and “Slap Shot 3,” I would say that “Slap Shot” hasn’t been sacred for a while now.

Bah, it’s Hollywood. I’m still sore that they decided to remake Willy Wonka (although I do have to admit some intrigue at a remake of Escape to Witch Mountain).
But basically, if a movie ever made money, it will be sequelled then remade. That’s the Hollywood way these days—it’s sure easier than creativity.

I can see the marketing genius already,
sk8ter gurls - the most infamous set of enforcers ever to disgrace a hockey rink.

they waited for Paul Newman to die before officially pitching this…because he would have broken the legs of whoever came up with this crackpot idea.
If the remake isn’t rated “R” I am going to climb a clock tower and start setting my sights.

“Peter Steinfeld (“21”) is writing the script”
Why is there a need to rewrite the script? If you’re going to recast and reshoot it, at least remake the same damn movie.
