Scott Morrison is currently a writer for CBCSports.ca and a panelist on the “Hotstove” segment of Hockey Night in Canada. He worked at the Toronto Sun throughout the 80’s and 90’s before joining Sportsnet in 2001 as hockey managing editor. He’s also authored numerous books, and spent two terms as the President of the Pro Hockey Writers Association. He won the Elmer Ferguson Award from the HHOF in 2006.
What do you think of what Mr. Morrison is doing?
Morrison is most certainly a guy who both expresses positive opinions about everything Gary Bettman does and tends to suggest that criticism of the league’s policies, from rules, injury policies (the old “keep your head up” vs. “guys should never hit people from behind” debate is a great example), to scheduling are unwarranted…
But he’s also an excellent writer who often provokes discussion in a very positive, “Maybe we should look at this from another perspective” manner, and he generally stands as a relatively moderate, reasoned voice when he appears on the Hotstove.
