About Eye on the Media
Eye on the Media, debuted on Kukla’s Korner in February of 2008, and deals with all the evil, weird and just plain insane things that happen when hockey ventures into the foreign worlds of TV, Radio and News Print. I am a student, and a communications major, in New Jersey, which by association means you can blame me for destroying hockey. I love hockey and wants to hear everything you have to say about the way our game is covered.

Hockey Media Approval Ratings: Darren Dreger

Thank you for making the first edition of the Hockey Media Approval Ratings successful, it should be a fun Summer of telling the puck media what’s what.
After Bob McKenzie received an overwhelming 94% approval rating, we turn to his cohort at the TSN panel, Darren Dreger. If McKenzie is to TSN what Peter Gammonds is to ESPN, Dreger must be Tim Kurkijan. After a decade hosting “Hockey Cenral” and affiliated programs on Rogers Sportsnet, Dreger came over to one-two punch with McKenzie at TSN in 2007.
Remember, hockey fans, this is all about what you think of the job the hockey media is doing, so the question is posed: Do you or do you not like the work Darren Dreger is doing?

They say ripping someone off imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I thought I’d give this new, daily “feature” an attempt. With regards to both Deadspin and Boston Sports Media Watch, I give you the poorly titled “Eye On the Media Hockey Approval Ratings”.
It’s pretty simple. I give you a name and a rundown of their career in puck, and you tell me whether or not you like the job that they are doing. It’s fun, simple, and it gives hockey fans a chance to give their say on the people that cover our game.
