About Eye on the Media
Eye on the Media, debuted on Kukla’s Korner in February of 2008, and deals with all the evil, weird and just plain insane things that happen when hockey ventures into the foreign worlds of TV, Radio and News Print. I am a student, and a communications major, in New Jersey, which by association means you can blame me for destroying hockey. I love hockey and wants to hear everything you have to say about the way our game is covered.

The Battle to Air the Playoffs
by Steve on 04/07/08 at 12:22 AMComments (0)
From William Houston at The Globe and Mail:
CBC’s gain was TSN’s loss. TSN, which owns TV rights to the series involving American teams, had hoped Crosby and the Penguins would be available for its telecasts.
However, in their final game of the regular-season Sunday, the Penguins – with Crosby sitting out as a healthy scratch – showed little interest in defeating the Philadelphia Flyers. A Pittsburgh win would have resulted in the Penguins meeting the Flyers again in the playoffs.
To Make Your TV Guide a Little Easier…

Here are the TV schedules for the first round of he playoffs for both the United States and Canada. A couple of rules for looking at this:
1. In the United States, all VERSUS telecasts are non-exclusive. That means that, unless the team consents to it (Nashville-San Jose last year is an example), your local regional sports network will air the game. NBC telecasts are exclusive, and will only air on NBC.
2. Note that these will be subject to change after every series is past Game Four, and schedules will change as series end.
3. All VERSUS and NBC action is slated to air in High-Def. Not certain, but at least two of CBC’s and TSN’s series should be as well.
Enjoy:

I don’t care that we’re five weeks away, I want my hockey now. Plus, through some careful searching, I’ve found out the initial playoff schedules for those two TV outlets that broadcast hockey.
