What a great Saturday we have on tap; it’s the weekend, the Predators start their regular season with a home game against the Dallas Stars, it should be a great time. It’s funny, actually; I had the strangest dream last night that the Preds actually began the season in St. Louis, of all places, and got hammered 5-2. It was more of a nightmare, really; all game long the Preds struggled in the defensive zone, with all eyes on the puck carrier and St. Louis shooters cutting in constantly for wide open shots. It was like the Preds were a bad beer league team that couldn’t wait to head out for drinks afterward.
Now, I should add that it wasn’t a completely awful dream; Ryan Suter scored a nifty goal to get things going, Joel Ward, Nashville’s “October Surprise”, potted his first NHL tally, and I got to watch the game from a personal luxury box with Carrie Milbank and Alyssa Milano tending to my every need.
Hey, it’s my dream, OK?
Anyway, the game sure turned out to be a stinker, but at least it wasn’t real. Wait a minute…
Ugh.
Well, at least Nashville’s keeping up with the Red Wings so far. It’s time to right the ship against a Stars team that has to be frustrated after dropping an OT decision to Columbus in their home opener, and is shorthanded on defense due to injury. It’ll be interesting to see if Radek Bonk gets back in the lineup. If he was indeed benched due to poor play, I’m guessing Barry Trotz would be open to scratching 5 or 6 guys tonight.

I read last Ryan Suter conversation where he said that Preds’d rather win 1:0 or 2:1 this season but instead they allowed 5 goals last night. We worried about Radulov but I think team needs to think more about their defence.
