Sean Avery may think he’s boring, but Calgary captain Jarome Iginla is making a move towards the top of this week’s NHL Penalty Plus/Minus rankings, just a step behind Los Angeles center Patrick O’Sullivan, who continues to hold down the NHL lead at +17. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the standings, Vancouver’s Shane O’Brien has raced ahead of the Blue Jacket’s Mike Commodore into the penalty box…

Thanks to the Sean Avery suspension, Nashville’s Jordin Tootoo has pulled ahead with total Penalties Drawn, with 25, just ahead of the Fashionable One and the Rangers’ Aaron Voros with 23. Since he’s taken just as many penalties as he’s drawn, however, Toots hasn’t, on net, been a positive influence on his team in that regard. He did show discipline in walking away from a fight last week against Colorado that led to a game-winning power play, so hopefully that attitude will win out going forward.
Feel free to peruse this list and look for the guys on your favorite team, and see who’s on Santa’s Nice or Naughty list…
Note: This week’s edition has a minor gap in the data; Game #372 (Vancouver vs. Detroit last Thursday) is missing the information for which player drew a penalty, but I do have the offenders recorded. NHL.com is missing play-by-play data for that game, for some reason.

The one area of Weber’s game that he definitely needs to work on.
