IIHF to rule in favor of Nashville

From the Tennessean:

The International Ice Hockey Federation is expected to announce that forward Alexander Radulov is currently in breach of his contract with the Predators, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said on Wednesday.

But Daly said the IIHF will take no further action on the matter.

While the IIHF has apparently no power over Radulov’s status within the Russian league, this might be another bullet in the Predators’ gun should this case ever land in an arbitration court.  Certainly the IIHF’s opinion would be taken into consideration.  The last we’ve heard on that front is that the NHL proposed a neutral site for such a hearing, but the KHL has not replied publicly.

In other words, this saga will likely continue for quite some time.  For Predators fans, however, it is a small victory that the IIHL (which includes KHL head Alexander Medvedev on its Executive Council) has thrown its opinion alongside that of the NHL’s.
