Well, at least one Nashville Predator is leading the All-Star balloting; too bad it’s for the KHL All-Star Game… This from today’s KHL press release:
After one week of fan voting for the inaugural KHL All-Star Game to be held Saturday, January 10, 2009, outdoors in Red Square in Moscow, Alexander Radulov (Salavat Yulaev Ufa) leads all nominees with 16,060 votes.
Notably, North Americans Ray Emery, goalie for Atlant Mytishchi, and Ben Clymer, defenseman for Dynamo Minsk, are setting the pace for Team Jagr at each of their positions with 11,370 votes and 11,594 votes, respectively.
The two teams in the KHL All-Star Game will be organized as Team Yashin, led by Alexei Yashin (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl) and featuring KHL players of Russian descent, and Team Jagr, led by Jaromir Jagr (Avangard Omsk) and featuring KHL players representing the rest of the world. Each team will be comprised of two goalies, six defenders and nine forwards.
Current vote leaders, by position, for each team:

Defensemen – Ben Clymer (Dynamo Minsk) – 11,594; Kevin Dallman (Barys Astana) – 10,604; Raymond Giroux (SKA St. Petersburg) – 7,653; Magnus Johansson (Atlant Mytishchi) 6,915
Forwards – Alexei Kalyuzhny (Dynamo Moscow) – 14,929; Jan Marek (Metallurg Magnitogorsk) – 13,958; Oleg Antonenko (HC MVD); Pavel Brendl (Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod) – 11,850
Fans have the opportunity to select three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender by logging on to http://www.khl.ru/media/votes.php. Voting will conclude at 12:00 PM Moscow time on December 22, 2008.
Additionally, Andrei Nikolishin (Traktor Chelyabinsk) and Alexei Kudashov (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl) have already been named to Team Yashin, while Marcel Hossa (Dynamo Riga) and Jakub Klepis (Avangard Omsk) have been selected to Team Jagr, and are not subject to the fan voting process.
There’s no word yet as to whether script kiddies have been hacking the KHL’s online voting site, but keep on the lookout for Rorski Fitzpatrovich to make a late surge in the totals…
