Allan Maki at the Globe and Mail profiles Brett Wilson, “a Calgary businessman, [who] is interested in acquiring a stake in the Nashville Predators.”
“The Boots saga doesn’t bother me at all. He’s a shareholder who can’t pay his bills. What’s happening in the broad markets … that scares me,” Wilson said. “But I like what Nashville is going to do and has done. I’ve been to several games there. It’s a good team with a low payroll and enthusiastic fans.”
Wilson is currently partnered with David Freeman in the ownership of an English soccer team and of minor league baseball’s West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, so this isn’t a case of someone coming out of the blue, and it appears his interest is in purchasing a portion of the Boots Del Biaggio ownership position.

It may not be as simple as “highest bidder gets the shares”. There are terms and conditions that govern how those shares can be transferred, and bankruptcy court can’t just ignore those restrictions, they’d need to find them unreasonable in order to set them aside.

The question remains, what is unreasonable? Could it ever come down to those restrictions being unreasonable because adhering to them means you get half the price for them? That’s what I wonder. For the sake of Preds fans, I hope they can finally get a nice, stable, respectable attendance, let’s say 15,000+, rather than skirting 14,000 and having tickets be bought to inflate attendance. If that happens, even I won’t cheer for Nashville to move, they are and have been a great franchise from GM down to players.

With those shares being held up in Federal Bankruptcy Court, would it be the highest bidder gets the prize ? I know Gary Butthead says he can control who takes the shares, but he also says that there aren’t any teams that are in money trouble......
