Sharks seeking revenge

Riding the momentum of a successful finish to their epic road trip, the Nashville Predators return home for a rematch with the San Jose Sharks this evening. Expect the Preds to focus hard on working for rebounds around the net and minding their Penalty Plus/Minus performance, because I’ve been granted press credentials for the game, and will make sure to hold these guys to task for their Corsi numbers.
This level of priveleged access also includes a wealth of pregame information to draw upon as I prepare to cover tonight’s proceedings. And, since I’m feeling in a generous mood, I thought I’d share some of San Jose’s “Fin Facts” with you as an appetizer until the puck drops…
1. Team captain Patrick Marleau “can undress out of his hockey gear in a team-low 45-seconds.” I’ll take their word for it, thanks.
2. Defenseman Alexei Semenov’s favorite activity “is looking online at luxury and sports cars,” or at least that’s what he tells the wife.
3. Devin Setoguchi comes from Taber, Alberta, which “is known for its tasty corn.” Too bad Indianapolis doesn’t have an NHL franchise, Devin, you’d love it there…
4. Jonathan Cheechoo dropped five pounds over the offseason. So really, I’m just balancing him (and a couple other guys) out in the whole scheme of things.
5. Doug Murray is “a managing partner of UberTap, a hands-free, three-spouted keg tapping system.” Sharks management, please cut this guy, so he can focus on what is clearly an urgent social mission.
San Jose is coming off a wild game last night in Chicago that saw them top the Blackhawks 6-5, so with any luck they’ll be physically as well as emotionally drained this evening. Dan Ellis, who was named one of the NHL’s 3 Stars for last week’s stellar work, gets the nod in goal according to the Tennessean.

Furious February
The Preds host 10 home games during the month of February, including two games each against the Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and, yes, the Detroit Red Wings. For discounted Nashville Predators tickets, including steeply discounted Ticketmaster fees, to these or any other upcoming home games, take advantage of this special offer, and use the special offer code "predators".

Hopefully, the Sharks can get some pucks by Ellis this time. He’s a flippin’ beast!common69
