Oilers beat Ducks (no April fools joke) 2-1
Three first period goals and all scored by a Teemu, this was an NHL first in what may have been Teemu Selanne’s last home game as a member of the Anaheim Ducks. While fans filled the lower bowl with signs asking for one more year, Selanne remained mum on the subject.

Barking Up the Wrong Tree

When Cam Barker was bought out by his second NHL team, the Minnesota Wild during the off-season, fan and writer reaction was that it was a good idea. Yet when he signed a one-year contract worth $2.25 million with the Edmonton Oilers, it seemed to be a low risk gamble. Unfortunately for the Oilers, it seems as though they have lost that gamble.

Oilers lose 5-2 to Senators
So how about that Nail kid? He sounds like he could be great, and “fail for nail” has a certain je ne sais quoi to it.
The Edmonton Oilers drop their fourth in a row, and lose even more defencemen while trade speculation for every healthy player reaches all new highs. It seems that things have returned to the “normal” of the past two seasons.

Oilers lose 6-3 to the Bruins
The excitement for this game seemed to surround the Taylor-Tyler comparison, and the fact that Tyler Seguin made himself unavailable to the media today only fuelled the fire. Unfortunately, not many Oilers fans could imagine a win coming out of this game. The last time the Oilers won in Boston was 15 years and 3 days ago. Yup, November 7th, 1996 was the last time the Oilers walked away from Boston Gardens with a win.

Barker and Hemsky Return Date Pegged at… Soon

Ales Hemsky, Darcy Hordichuk and Cam Barker all look set to return to the line-up soon and so changes to the Oilers line-up must be made. Cam Barker and Ales Hemsky both took and as far as I can tell, passed Coach Tom Renney’s skate test. This test is something that all players hoping to return to the line-up must do, and the results must make Renney happy. Renney says he can tell if his players are not pushing themselves, or are pushing too hard.

About Oil Patch
Lisa McRitchie is a fairly new writer, online at least, but makes up for inexperience with passion for the game of hockey and memories of Mrs. Leskiw’s English AP class; who knew they would pay off one day.
Oil Patch focuses on the Edmonton Oilers, the Edmonton Oil Kings, The Oklahoma City Barons and Team Canada Hockey with game coverage, news updates, speculation and interviews.
Although the Oilers have had a difficult past decade… or three, here at Oil Patch, the future looks bright.
