Please pardon my extended absence. La maison du RBH, and all its operations were at the mercy of a squirrel between Tuesday afternoon and just now.
A squirrel chomped into the power line going from the pole to the house. As a result of this, there were radical fluctuations in the amount of electricity coming into the house. The highs were so high that they fried my upstairs neighbor’s tvs and fried one of my surge protectors. The power spikes also did damage to the cable wires, which piggyback the electricity wires. This meant that my cable TV and my high-speed internets were rendered inoperable. It was just like 1979.
Duke Power resolved the electricity very quickly, restoring safe electricity to the house within an hour and a half of my call. However, Time-Warner Cable wasn’t quite so quick. I scheduled a Thursday appointment for them to examine the outside hookups. They showed up on Wednesday and thought that everything was a-okay. In fact, it wasn’t. I scheduled another appointment for tonight, and it took the guy about an hour to figure everything out, but I’m finally back in the internets.
So I missed a couple of Hurricanes games, and I will be delayed in posting my mid-term report cards. That should hopefully be up by Saturday afternoon.
