Next entry: Bruins force game seven

Previous entry: Walker fined, not suspended.

AWard fires shots over the bow and will play in game six

When the doctors examined Aaron Ward’s face,  they “saw something in the x-ray” and suggested to him that he wear a visor in game six.  He said he never has, and he’s not about to start.

He had lots more to say about the Walker incident, describing Walker’s side of the story as “a joke”.  He also took great exception to the use of the term “engaged” when describing a fight.  Then, in a very bizarre move, he played a political card.

“I know Jimmy (Rutherford)  is a pretty staunch Republican. I didn’t know he brought Karl Rove in here to spin it for him,”

Read all about it here.

Meanwhile, Bs coach Claude Julien has decided that he has better things to do than talk to reporters about the non-suspension.

“You’ve got to respect and accept the decision and move on.  That’s what we’re going to do.”

If this was the regular season, Scott Walker would be a marked man.  He might still be marked, but it won’t be the Bruins main focus tonight.

For the first time this postseason, I’ll be going to the game.  I exercised the season ticket holder right of refusal on my playoff tickets, but somehow a pair fell in my hands for tonight. They just happen to be the seating section (112) where I’ve sat for the last six seasons.  Maybe it’s the work of the hockey gods.

Only one comment makes sense when replying to Ward’s weird remarks: WTF?

I still don’t see how one can paint Ward as a victim.  Everyone in the entire arena and home-viewing audience could clearly see Walker drop his gloves, grab Ward by the jersey, cock his arm and take the swing/  HOW in GOD’s NAME can that POSSIBLY be considered a sucker punch?  A sucker punch is a punch given without warning, with no way for the recipient to defend it.

He had all the time in the world to react but instead stood there and took the punch.  He wanted to goad Walker into a fight so that Walker would get suspended.  Simple as that.

In fact, the very fact that he stood there and stared deep into Walker’s pretty eyes as Walker was delivering the punch is -I guaranDAMNtee it- the VERY REASON that Walker didn’t get suspended.  Ward’s plan was so blatantly ridiculous and ill-thought-out that I can’t help but laugh at him.

I hope the Canes’ game winning goal is 100% his fault tonight.

Garth nailed this one on the head. Ward tried to be slick and it failed.
