Canes busy trying to replace LaRose

After a rollercoaster couple of days when we were told that the Hurricanes and Chad LaRose were miles apart, then told that they were getting close, we’ve now been told that it’s over. Jim Rutherford put his final, final, totally final, absolutely final offer on the table earlier this afternoon. LaRose’s agent said that they would call Rutherford back “in an hour”.
Rutherford’s phone still ain’t ringing. He assumes that it still ain’t LaRose. He assumes that LaRose has something else working and he claims that the Canes are working on signing someone else. There’s no indication of who it might be, but I suspect that Mike Zigomanis might find his way back to Raleigh before the dust settles. The Penguins have parted ways with him (and also with defenseman Rob Scuderi). ---->EDIT<---- I should apologize for jumping the gun here. While the Pens have decided to move on without Mike Zigomanis, they have NOT made that decision about Rob Scuderi. The only thing they have done is allowed him to enter the free agent market, where he remains unsigned. They’re still trying to iron out a deal with him, and although some reports indicate that the Penguins are going to look elsewhere, they haven’t given up on those negotiations.
I had a few guys on my wish list, and they’re already gone.
The Predators wasted little time in re-signing Joel Ward with a hefty pay raise. The Capitals wasted little time snagging Mike Knuble out of the FA pile. Sure, there’s a few forwards still out there who would be affordable, but these two guys were at the top of my wish list. This was when I was operating under the assumption that Erik Cole wouldn’t re-sign.
Carolina made some depth signings for the River Rats when they re-signed Michael Ryan and Pat Dwyer. Depth forward Ryan Bayda has opted for free agency. There’s really not a pressing need to get a name-brand forward, so JR might be busy looking for a defenseman.
Even though Rutherford promised to be inactive early in the FA market, he’s making it sound like he’s pretty busy. Or he’s bluffing. I imagine we’ll know sooner than later what this deal is.

Thanks McFly, I was thinking the same thing. Just another hack re-writing what he read somewhere. Go back to NASCAR.

You guys are right. I was premature in saying that about Scuderi. I’ve gone back and added new text to the post pointing out my own sloppiness.

Enter “Moebius” another well informed individual… I do believe there are various personal blogs located throughout the site. I think you are pretty much insulting every blogger on kuklas korner…

David - sorry for the harshness of my comments. Wouldn’t want someone yelling at me every time I made a mistake.

McFly, I didn’t take any offense from your comment. I ought to be able to handle being taken to task for making an error like that. You didn’t insult or attack me; you merely called out my mistake.

What you talking about?? You make this stuff up? Scuderi is still in negatiations with Pittsburgh and it has has been reported that he will decide tomorrow whether to give a hometown discount or sign with someone else.
Please....
