Canes lose Traverse City opener

On Saturday, the Hurricanes started the Traverse City Prospect Tournament with a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild.  Last September, the Hurricanes won the tournament.

The Canes prospects got off to a slow start, finding themselves down 2-0 at the first intermission, but stayed in it.  After a scoreless second, they got one back in the third when undrafted invitee Mike McKenzie poked one in.  Unfortunately, the Canes couldn’t get anything else.

Today at 5:30, the Canes prospects will take on the Rangers prospects.  Yesterday, the Rangers defeated Columbus 5-4.

In the loss, Jeff Skinner had seven shots on goal, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see his name on the scoresheet for today’s game.
