On Wednesday, the Hurricanes granted Eric Staal a personal leave of absence due to a death in his wife’s family. He’ll definitely miss the game at Nashville on Thursday and most likely the home game against Colorado on Friday. Jiří Tlustý and Zach Boychuk have already been recalled from Albany, and this might necessitate another Rat call. It could mean Canes fans will get their first look at Jerome Samson.
Staal will be in Thunder Bay, attending the funeral of Tanya’s sister Tamara, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 26.
