Red & Black Hockey

Here’s what I won’t be talking about…

The Eastern conference finals between Pittsburgh and Carolina will start Monday night, and there are some story lines that I won’t be covering.  I will join Tony at The Confluence in saying that I won’t be writing anything about the Staal sibling rivalry.  Also, I won’t be trying to stir up any Cole v Orpik nonsense.

Some of my contemporaries still want to see Brooks Orpik’s head on a pike and are probably willing to offer money out of their own pocket to the first guy who really nails him.  I’m not part of that, and I definitely want it known that I want to distance myself from that type of sentiment.  As far as I’m concerned, the issue with Orpik is dead and buried.  What happened happened and it’s over.

Several other bloggers have decided to overdo the Staal v Staal thing, and I agree with Tony that it’s overdone.  I’m not going to write about or partake in any silly Staal drinking games.  Most of these are so stupid that anyone playing the “game” would be killed by alcohol poisoning by the first intermission of game one.
