Jeff Skinner drawing Crosby comparisons

Jeff Skinner, who was drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round of this summer’s Entry Draft, has been turning heads all summer long.  He had a good showing at the prospect camp in July, he had a good camp at Team Canada’s evaluation camp in preparation for the World Junior tournament.  His remarkable shootout goal in practice there will be on highlight reels, as will his dazzling 50th goal for Kitchener in the OHL last season. 

Whether he makes the Canes this fall or at some point in the near future remains to be seen, but for now, he’s been receiving high praise from NHL veterans, including a favorable comparison to Sidney Crosby. 

The first time I saw Jeff I said, ‘Holy smoke, he looks just like Sidney Crosby.  It’s freaky how comparable they are. Jeff has the same frame as Sidney.  Sidney Crosby is more explosive. But Jeff will get there. I think he’s going to be a really, really good player for the Hurricanes for a long time.
