Alexander Nikulin Goes Home (?)

From Sharp on the Sens,

True to his word, Alexander Nikulin said Monday he is leaving the Binghamton Senators and heading back to CSKA Moscow in the Russian Continental Hockey League.

He practiced with the B-Sens on Monday, but then received a call just before 12:30 from a translator for his agent.

“He doesn’t know if they released the contract,” teammate Kaspars Daugavins said, translating for Nikulin, “but they said, ‘You can go home.’ Like, pretty much, he can go. So he doesn’t know hundred percent about (the) contract, but his agent said, ‘You can go home.’”

No full confirmation yet, but he says he is going home, and while there is no confirmation of a KHL contract waiting J.P. Barry has told him he can go home. More to come when it is available.

Update - 6:03PM

Sharp has updated, and Nikulin appears to be staying in New York for a few days before flying to Russia, likely a last-ditch chance for him to find a new NHL home.

Update - 6:55PM

Nikulin traded to Phoenix for defenseman Drew Fata.
