In Case You Wondered About My Absence

For those who read my blog, I thank you. I have been gone these past several days due to personal illness.
In that time, I have come to ponder this blog. While I do not have it in me to stop proselytizing about everything I see, change is needed.
My blogging began several years back when I felt that I was missing part of the experience as a fan. While I could read about the Senators, the scope was limited, and I could not reliably find news that I would want to know. I decided that I would try to bring that to other Senators fans. I did game previews and recaps, which have been limited as of late, and most critically to me I attempted to find every Ottawa Senators story posted on the web, bringing the minutest of stories into a readily available format. If many people covered the story, I would highlight what I felt was the important thrust of the matter, but gave as much diversity of opinon as I could, both in my writing and in my links.
Now, however, the task has found itself without a proper home in my agenda. I no longer have the time for all of these features. More importantly, in the past few years sports coverage and opinion has expanded at a voracious pace. If there is a story out there, as Tyler Dellow served notice of Colin Campbell’s actions to the League and its fans, it finds its way out. Even Dany Heatley’s trade may have been made public not by his agents or the team, but possibly by scavenging reporters or other team sources or friends of Dany’s, looking to break the news the same way reporters now look to be the first to mention any detail of the NHL, be it on twitter, their blogs, or any other media platform.
With that, my raison d’etre has also waned.
I again thank those who followed my writing, be it for a week or for seasons, and for those who wrote emails and comments: it’s always been about you, and you still make it worthwhile. With that, I need to transition myself. I will not stop talking about Ottawa, only it will be in a different, less newsreel oriented fashion, with a pace that I will seek to find as the games roll on.
My voice on the Senators and the League at large will not go quiet into any good night, but change had to come, as it always has, so here we go again.
