From the Penguins:
Sidney Crosby to Play 250th Game Tonight
Penguins center ranks among top all-time NHL scorers at 250-game mark
Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby will play his 250th career NHL regular season game tonight when the Penguins take on the Boston Bruins at Mellon Arena.
The 21-year-old Crosby ranks among the top scorers in NHL history at this juncture of his career, with 343 points through 249 games. If he scores two points tonight, he will tie New York Islanders Hall of Famer Mike Bossy for the fifth-highest total in NHL history after 250 games.
The top all-time scorers through 250 games, as compiled by the Elias Sports Bureau:
Wayne Gretzky 537
Mario Lemieux 423
Peter Stastny 403
Eric Lindros 360
Mike Bossy 345
SIDNEY CROSBY 343 (total through 249 games)
Crosby became the youngest NHL player to score 100 points as an 18-year-old rookie in 2005-06. He became the youngest NHL scoring champion as a 19-year-old in 2006-2007.

Excuse the abbreviated preview, wrapping up my holiday excursion today and heading down I-79 later this afternoon for tonight’s game.
Tough matchup tonight for the Penguins, as the red-hot Boston Bruins are in town tonight at the Igloo. Eventually, these comments like “we put forth a good effort” and “we deserved to win” must start translating into wins. If you haven’t noticed, nearly all the teams ahead of the Pens in the Eastern Conference standing just keep on winning.
It will no doubt be a very physical affair, led by Milan Lucic and Scott Thornton. It most likely won’t be enough simply to have Eric Godard, if he is even in the lineup, to square off with a Bruin. There will definitely be major hitting all over the place, and the Pens will have to match those.
Looking forward to re-visiting the Igloo tonight. Probably won’t have a recap up until sometime tomorrow night, when I get back home in Va Beach.

Thats cool for Sid. Hopefully he gets 3 points to get into sole possession of #5. Game tonight should be good. Yeah, Boston has looked great, but they’ve also had probably the easiest December schedule in the NHL. IF the Pens show up tonight, this should be a good game. Hopefully both will be close match ups, and the Pens will take at least one of them.
And Don’t forget Jordan Staal, he’ll be the youngest player to ever play 200 games if he suits up tonight. So maybe we should take it easy on him, he can’t even legally drink yet in the USA, legally being the important word, as he found out last season.

I was surprised too by Lindros. I’m rooting for Bossy to stay in 5th place though. He was my favorite player when I was a kid, and he’s got to be the most overlooked player in history, playing when Gretzky got every headline written about the NHL.

There’s one name that doesn’t belong there…CINDY CROSBY. He doesn’t score goals. Why do they insist on marketing a guy that doesn’t score goals? The average American sportsfan will never buy into this crap. The NHL should market guys that can score or at least win a fight

you have clearly never watched crosby play. Crosby is the biggest reason the nhl has climbed back to where it is…watch him play a whole game. Wanna see him win a fight? Watch him in the corners as guys twice his size try to knock him off his feet while he walks around them and feeds it to a wide open guy in front. And he doesent score goals? HA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXzYcCfCJkY

@kevin - I’m all for being anti-Crosby if you’re not a Pens fan, because after all, if he was on your team, you wouldn’t be saying stuff like “Cindy”, but don’t you see how childish and immature you sound when you say it ?? I’m sure you’re a better hockey fan than that, or at least I hope so…

That’s pretty cool for Crosby.
Surprising about Lindros I think.
