HBO And NHL Scoring With 24/7 Penguins/Capitals

From Forbes’ Mike Ozanian:

Early indications are HBO’s series 24/7 Penguins/Capitals is going to be a big success for both the Time Warner cable channel and the National Hockey League. Based on audience tracking to-date it is expected that episode 1 of 24/7 Penguins/Capitals will attract approximately 2.8 million viewers, including linear and on-demand viewing (the final HBO audience numbers will be tabulated when the series run is completed). And episode 2 of 24/7 Penguins/Capitals on Dec. 22 attracted the same premiere night viewers as Episode 1.

To give some perspective to these ratings, consider that the Dec. 14 contest that saw the Philadelphia Flyers stake past the Pittsburgh Penguins to the top of the Atlantic Division averaged 750,000 viewers on Comcast’s Versus network, according to Nielsen data, to rank as the most-watched regular-season NHL telecast in Versus history.
