The hardest part to understand about shero is he burned most of his draft picks on defense since he was hired by the penguins yet still spent all his money this offseason on defense and locked them up long term…. At what point does he address offense?

As soon as Crosby and Malkin are off the books then he can go out and address the offense.

Jesus…what do you call going out and getting James Neal?  Kennedy transformed himself into a 20-goal scorer, too.  Plus, you got guys like Tangradi and Jeffrey waiting to be up on the big club full time next year.

Oh yeah…then there’s those two guys…a former Conn Smythe/Art Ross winner and a former Hart/Art Ross/Rocket Richard winner that only played 1/2 the Pens games this season.

Stock piling d-men isn’t a bad strategy either.  You saw what a decent puck-moving d-man brought them this year.  In a salary cap world, you stock pile assets so you can turn them into other assets.  You see good small market baseball teams do it in MLB…like the Rays a couple of years ago.  They had stockpiled a ton of corner outfield/infield guys and when they were ready to contend, they deal from their strength to bring in pieces they needed - the year the Rays went to the World Series they deal corner outfielders (their strength) for a starting pitcher (Garza) and a shortstop (Bartlett) to address their weaknesses.  You see Shero implementing the same kind of strategy when it comes to the d-men.

And, have we already forgotten how unsuccessful the Letang/Orpik/Gonchar/Goligoski/McKee/Eaton/Skoula d-corps from last season was?

Oh, sorry for the MLB tirade up there.  Best way I could think of to explain it, though.

I’m a Pens fan but I wouldn’t pay more than $1.99 for those tickets.  We have no offense and unless the D and Fleury play a perfect game it’s over.
