Longtime Penguins’ PA announcer John Barbero passes away

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Seth Rorabaugh:
John Barbero, the longtime public address announcer at Civic and Mellon Arena has died following a lengthy battle with brain cancer.
According to a Penguins official, Barbero began calling Penguins games during the 1972-73 season.

I never thought a PA announcer could give me chills with his goal calls but that’s what John did time and time again. Deepest sympathies go out to the Barbero family.
