Memo to Mario:  I’m afraid it’s time to lock out the Capitals fans now

So let me get this straight:  After all, I’m not the head of neither a major company nor a professional sports team.

Washington Capitals owner Uncle Teddy Leonsis, who I honestly respect for his integration of bloggers into the NHL press box, first creates a policy that prevents potential ticket buyers from the Pittsburgh area from buying tickets to Penguins games at the Verizon Center (unless you buy a minimum of a six-pack of games, that is).  Then he expands it, not only blocking area codes but also including those whose ticket history indicates Penguins games.  It even started including fans selling tickets on Ebay, who would look at “geographical location and ticket history”.

Whatever.  That’s all fine and dandy, Ted.  You’ve got every right to do it.  Although I am curious, I’m just wondering why you didn’t keep all those Penguins fans out of the Verizon Center when you couldn’t fill half that barn.  Sure as hell took their money then, didn’t ya.

But I digress.

So having established that exclusionary policy, you’d think that Teddy would just keep quiet when it comes to things like seats in Mellon Arena.

You’d be wrong.

Tonight, with the Caps basking in the glow of their well-earned 6-3 win last night over the Pens, Uncle Ted had the absolute gall to gloat after seeing a grand total of five Capitals fans in this picture, taken after Alex Ovechkin scored;
