Penguins announce special “opening events” at new arena

From the Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who officially took control of CONSOL Energy Center on Sunday, will hold a series of receptions and open houses this month to celebrate the opening of Pittsburgh’s new multi-purpose entertainment center.

The Penguins and CONSOL Energy will co-host a private, invitation-only Grand Opening Reception on Friday evening – but Penguins season ticket holders and the general public also will have opportunities to see and tour the new arena in its first month.

There will be an Open House Weekend for Penguins season ticket holders on Saturday, Aug. 14 and Sunday, Aug. 15. Season ticket holders already have received their invitations and tickets.

There will be an Open House for the general public on Saturday, Aug. 28. Tickets are available for a $5 donation that will go to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation—which supports local youth initiatives and youth hockey.

Tickets for the general public event will be available for purchase starting on Thursday Aug. 12 at http://www.ticketmaster.com, by calling or 1-800-745-3000, or at the CONSOL Energy Center box office.

Among a series of private receptions over the next several weeks will be a special one on Tuesday, Aug. 10 for the construction workers who built the arena. Construction workers and their families will have an opportunity to tour the finished product and see the result of all their work.
