Penguins cap season tix at 14K again:  Cup banner will be raised Oct. 2nd vs. Rangers

From the Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins will raise a new Stanley Cup banner at their 2009-10 regular season opener - Friday, October 2 against the New York Rangers at Mellon Arena.  Game time is 7:30 pm.

In addition, the Penguins will again cap full season ticket equivalents at 14,000 in 2009-10, their final season at Mellon Arena.  Seating capacity is 16,940.

The Penguins, who have sold out 118 straight games, including every game the past two seasons, began limiting the sales of full season tickets in 2007-08 - in order to continue to expand their fan base, and to make tickets available for fans to purchase mini-plans and individual game tickets.

Good, the NHL gets what they wanted on that day. They saved the franchise. Now maybe we can stop handing this team everything and make them earn the next one they get.

Speak for yourself, Rob. For the following seasons, I’m expecting quite a few gift wrapped Stanley Cups with a nice card signed by Gary Bettman. Anything else would be a clear breach of agreement.

Can’t we all just get alooong??? And give the “2008-2009 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins” thier due. Come on Hockeytown ,you can do it.! I know you can. It’ real therapeutic too.

Lindas1st - save your energies.  Hockeytown (what a joke) folk are worse than Cryer fans.  Most privelaged fans in all of sports.

Now Now McFly, we must ALL try to get along. Remember we’re all hockey fans and it’s up to us to show the MSM (ESPN) and thier League Licensee’s (MLB,NFL & NBA) that we are better than that and difinitely better than them.

You’re right, Linda, there’s absolutely no reason to get agitated by stupidity. Though I’m starting to grasp which teams have the majority of trolling and agitatingly inclined “fans”, the best method is making fun of their silly commentary.

Should sellouts even be recorded when the home ice seats less than a few AHL arenas?

Don’t worry down the river, after the the Pens’ open their new building and all the modern amenities it will have, the oldest building in the NHL will be:  Joe Louis Arena.  And with that you get 20,000+ seats, notice I said seats and not fans.  That’s because the Dead Wings and their unemployed fan base can’t fill those 20,000+ seats for the Stanley Cup Finals two years in a row!  It’s a good thing Pens fans travel as well as any in the NHL, otherwise it would have been real embarassing to the Dead Wings to have those empty seats boradcast on television screens all over the world.  But hey you do have 20,000 seats in that barn.  Just how many high revenue luxury boxes and club seats are in there?

Oh by the way it’s nice to be able show Sid Able’s grandson what a classy organ-i-zation and town Pittsburgh and the Penguins are, compared to North America’s *#$%@& (Detroit).

THE BIGGEST LOSERS IN ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS ARE THE FANS OF THE DETROIT RED WINGS, ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT COME ON KUKLAS KORNER AND CRY LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN!  YOUR DETROIT DEAD WINGS LOST AND NOTHING YOU SAY WILL CHANGE THAT!
THE 2009 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS ARE THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS!!!!!
