Penguins Could Use the Rest with Game 5 Win

The fourth win is always the hardest one to get, the other team’s going to throw everything at us, yadda, yadda…..
All the cliches aside, the Penguins could do well by winning Saturday’s matinee Game 5 back at the Consol Energy Center vs. the Lightning.
Because with a win on Saturday, the Penguins could have close to one week of rest before Round 2 begins.
Both the Philly/Buffalo and Boston/Montreal series are tied at two games a piece. Game 7 of the Flyers/Sabres series would be Tuesday, while Game 7 of the Bruins/Habs series would be Wednesday.
Unless I’m mistaken, the NHL has to wait until all of the Round 1 series are complete before finalizing the matchups and dates for Round 2. If the Bruins/Habs series goes 7 games to Wednesday night, most likely Game 1 of Round 2 of any series would be Friday, the 29th at the earliest.
That’s at least six, if not seven, days of rest for the Penguins, who could use it.
More specifically, a certain center could use it as well.
As I’m sure most Penguins fans are, I continue to frustratingly watch highlight after highlight showing Sidney Crosby stickhandle and skate flawlessly, most of the time with the rest of the team. Of course, all of that is without contact.
It begs the question: Just what constitutes the successful completion of Crosby’s non-contact portion of his recovery and thereby commences practicing with contact?
Of course, if I knew the answer to that, I wouldn’t be some schmuck blogger now, would I.
But even if the go-ahead is given to Crosby in the next day or two, that would only commence his time on the ice with contact. Just as there’s no timetable currently with no-contact, there would be a similar status given after he starts to take contact.
But if would cause quite the ruckus, wouldn’t it.
Let’s Go Pens, put the Bolts out of their misery once and for all.

From recent personal experience, let me tell ya… there ain’t no ‘yadda yadda’ about it! Although I don’t expect my own team’s nightmare to be something the Pens have to face. After all, at this point I suspect the Canucks are like a cautionary tale told in everyone else’s locker rooms in these playoffs.
