Stick-tap to Puck Daddy’s Ryan Lambert for the find: Penguins’ 2009 3rd round draft pick Ben Hanowski scores to tie the game with .01 left on the clock for St. Cloud State vs. the University of Alaska Anchorage.

According the St. Cloud State hockey page, Hanowski has seven goal and fifteen points in thirty games for SCS. That’s not bad for a first year.
And there’s a Danish defenceman picked by Philly playing there as well, but let’s not go there…

The reason he was surprised was that Hanowski is a LW and is a freshman and would not always be on the ice at the end of the game. He has one of the highest ceilings of all the Penguins prospect and probably the best shot.
He’s having a good rookie season as well.

And he was good enough to be on the ice in a one-goal game with 20 seconds left as a freshman, so that says a lot in my opinion…

I don’t watch college hockey much at all, but the way the play-by-play guy asks “was that Hanowski?” in a tone of voice that would be similiar to “was that Goddard?” makes me think maybe he isn’t such a great prospect… but i could be wrong.
