Penguins’ Staal has “Setbacks” with Foot Injury

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Shelly Anderson:

Penguins general manager Ray Shero said today that key forward Jordan Staal has had “a few setbacks” with his right foot and should find out next week following a medical re-evaluation whether he will be ready for the start of training camp next month.

Shero stressed that the tendon on the top of Staal’s foot that was cut April 30 is strong but that there are other issues keeping Staal from being at full force. Staal had surgery that night and again in June.

“This is a matter of whether he will be ready for training camp and then, if not, when can he go hard,” Shero said.

Gym socks. Maybe the leafs have a extra bag lying around or sweeten the deal with maybe some leg warmers. I wouldnt mind haven a player like him. I was always under the impression he was important to the team over there in steel city.

I don’t think the Pens can win much without a healthy Staal.  He’s become one of the best all-around centers in the game, even though he’s only the 3rd best center on his team.  Hope that foot heals soon.
