Agreed Russian Rocket. I hope he gets a chance with someone else but it was time for the Pens to move on.

Yep, Russian Rocket, it’s time to bring in Svatos on a tryout basis. He needs to tear it up in camp and in the preseason. Else start the Big Dog in the NHL this season and see how it goes.

As someone who watches little of the Eastern conference, it will be very interesting to see how the WBS Pens are able to develop some feeders to the NHL now that the Pens have had a few successful seasons. If all goes well in Shero’s world, signing greybeards will be a thing of the past and Pittsburgh’s old guys will have been brought up through the system. Watching Bill go is a good sign if they can successfully replace him.

I am thankful for the experience and bit of goal scoring Bill Guerin brought to this team, but it was definitely time to move on. He won’t fit with the teams scheme as a bottom 6 player and I’m not sure he would have been able to keep up with a top 6 role in Pittsburgh this year.
I’m all for giving Nick Johnson or Tangradi a chance to fill one of these top six spots early on. If a player like Svatos would accept a camp invite that could be an option as well.
