Crosby’s OT goal gives Penguins much-needed 4-3 win over Sabres

What would hockey bloggers today do without Sidney Crosby to kick around ?? You name it, from HCMT misquotes ("It’s Sidney’s team” when he really said “We’ll see next game") to NHL double standards on his recent bruhaa vs. Atlanta, one thing’s for sure; You draft an article discussing anything Crosby-related, you’re gonna get a lot of website hits, and you’re gonna get a lot of opinions.
Well, tonight’s game vs. the Sabres at HSBC will undoubtedly give the Crosby-haters (and you know who you are) another reason to spew their hatred.
Crosby’s controversial deflection goal of an Evgeni Malkin knuckleball one-timer in overtime gave the Penguins a much-needed 4-3 win over the Sabres. Crosby’s bunt-like deflection was periously close to the crossbar height, but after replay the officals said the puck was not deflected with a high stick, and the Penguins got the win.
What did I think of the call ?? You’ll have to click below to find out.

It’s a broken record: Powerplay fails again, two goal lead blown, Penguins lose to Sabres, 4-3

How long is this going to be allowed to continue ??
You gotta give Buffalo credit: They sure tried to give the Penguins this game.
The Penguins were given powerplay chance after powerplay chance after powerplay chance to blow this game wide open. Not only didn’t they put the game away, they blew yet another two goal lead and this time they didn’t even get a point out of it, losing to the Sabres 4-3.
The Penguins once-vaunted powerplay was woeful again tonight, going 1-for-8, including three separate 5-on-3 powerplays, the last of which was for the full two minutes.

It sure seems as though the Penguins’ fortunes, may they be good or bad, are told in the third period.
That was certainly the case during Wednesday’s game vs. the Islanders, where the Penguins scored 4 third-period goals to complete a 5-3 comeback win.
But it’s also been the case in games like tonight’s, where the Penguins held a 3-2 lead going into the third period, only to lose 4-3 to the Sabres at HSBC Arena.

Penguins win 6th straight after 3rd period awakening, 5-2 over Sabres

Well, they did it again. As Shelly Anderson wrote in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, watching a Penguins game is not for the faint of heart.
DISCLAIMER: I almost started calling this team the “Cardiac Kids”, but I quickly realized that since the Cleveland Browns of the late ‘70’s/early ‘80’s were known with that moniker, I wouldn’t be let in the Pittsburgh city limits the next time I wanted to visit. Let’s just forget I ever mentioned it.
Anyway, after two periods of relative lethargy, the Penguins turned up the heat in the third period to overcome a 2-1 Sabres lead with four goals to win their sixth straight game with a 5-2 win over Buffalo.
