Thank God!  Ted being the owner gives me hope for the future of the team.

I would hope Stan reads this and understands by reporting this he is looked upon as a goof and a rumor starter.
This type of journalism may have worked for the Maven in the past, but he has been caught this time.
Why didn’t Stan just ask Leonsis about this before actually printing the story?  Makes you wonder what else Fischler is lying about!

Posted by GB  on  10/17  at  08:58 AM

Well, for one Fischler is already looked upon as a goof by many!  I would find it extremely hard to believe that Ted would even entertain selling the team.  He has possibly the most entertaining player in the game in Ovechkin and the man out and out loves hockey!

I suppose stranger things have happened, but now we’ve got it straight from the horses mouth.

That IS a relief!  Thanks for clearing that up, Paul!

I tend to believe Leonsis more than I do Fischler. Stan’s the one trying to sell something.

Leonsis wants to own both the Caps and the Wizards. It makes no sense for him to sell the former before he has the latter.

I tend to believe Eklund who mentioned this in a chat last night.
He claims the Caps will be sold by end of this season, and very possibly move to Kansas City or Seattle.

I tend to believe Eklund

... and that is when my brain popped.

Hey HunterRules, welcome back with your spin machine.
Just a suggestion, you are probably better off not making such comments around here, you never know what may come of it.
Just tell Dwayne to email me, we can discuss this further.

Posted by Paul from Motown Area  on  10/17  at  01:07 PM

Leonsis just spent over $40 million to build a new practice facility for the Capitals and Mystics in Arlington, which will also house both teams’ front office facilities.

He’s also stepping down from his full-time job as a CEO of AOL (he’ll retain his CEO’s title, but will give up control of AOL’s day-to-day operations to a hand-picked successor) to pursue his other business interests, including a movie production company

That doesn’t sound like a guy who’s trying to consolidate losses by selling a hockey team.  It sounds like an owner who’s got enough of a nest egg that he can refocus upon playing with his big boys’ toys.
